Attoe explores the sublime by painting majestic fictional landscapes – expansive views that ease into the foreground to reveal tiny figures punctuated by truisms rendered in silver text. Emblematic of Attoe's oeuvre, Evening Toward the End of Vacation depicts characters soaking in the final moments of tranquil seclusion while the ubiquitous thought "there are so many emails" sneaks into the subconscious.
