Description

Nathan Jurevicius. Peleda Mask. Edition Size: 75. 18 x 24 Inches 4-Color Screen Prints on 100lbs Black Fine Art Paper. $50. We are excited to welcome back 1xRUN artist Nathan Jurevicius as he joins us for his 3rd RUN! With his first two RUNs, Nathan brought us two archival pigment prints with Harlow and . However, this time around, Nathan has brought us the gold flecked screen printed beauty of Paleda Mask . His latest RUN pulls influences from illustrator and friend Andrea Kang and fuses of their backgrounds with Lithuanian and Korean interplay in this beautiful screen print. "The owl pattern was originally derived from a design I did many years ago as a collaboration with illustrator Andrea Kang. The shape of the head is based on a Korean face mask, and Peleda is the Lithuanian word for 'Owl'. I've been developing the world of Peleda for many years and have been using various sections of this pattern over that time. I was given some herbal Korean face masks from Andrea Kang and they had a skull-like appearance to them, so this piece is definitely a fusion of 2 cultures Lithuanian and Korean. My heritage is Lithuanian and owls feature a lot in my work." - Nathan Jurevicius.
