Poesia. St. Francis After Caravaggio. Edition Size: 40. 14 x 20 Inches Hand-Deckled Archival Pigment Print. on 340gsm Archival Cold Press Natural Cotton Fine Art Paper. $75. We are excited to welcome Graffuturism member Poesia for his debut RUN St. Francis After Caravaggio. Read on as we talk with Poesia about his classically influenced piece. "St Francis after Caravaggio was painted as part of a series of paintings I have been working on since late 2010. These old Master reinterpretations have evolved over the last 2 years from gestural abstract to fully rendered as this painting is. I was asked to exhibit at Anno Domini Gallery for a solo show. I figured this was the perfect time to work on the old master series for this exhibition as a whole. Other paintings I had exhibited and painted were not made as a group and always exhibited with some of my other abstract pieces. My show titled "More force than Judgement" would focus on these old master paintings. This enabled me to build a strong cohesive body of work. St Francis after Caravaggio was one of the most well received paintings in the exhibit." - Poesia. Recognized for his early wild style wall pieces and later evolution into a more abstract and conceptual based Graffiti aesthetic. A member of the Transcend Collective, and newly established Graffuturism group. Poesia has established himself as an artist at the forefront of today's contemporary scene. Having been recently featured in Complex Magazines 25 most important artists of 2012, Poesia seems poised for an impact on today's scene. His recent work has transitioned from abstract graffiti towards a more evolved version of his past letter based work. Creating a hybrid style of work that is able to bridge the gallery with the street. Whether figurative or abstract in nature, it is always structured in letter based form. Poesia's work explodes with color and form creating a cryptic version of his wall work. Layers upon layers of paint Poesia is able to build a deep dialogue between fine art and graffiti with his pieces.
