A daily occurrence and yet no two are the same, the hues of a sunset can feel at once familiar and alien. Raitt uses his characteristic kaleidoscopic perspective to stretch the believability of light and color, fading into moonscapes of acidic green or fiery red clouds. Drawing upon different art historical approaches to dusk from the Hudson River School to formalist traditions exemplified by painters such as Felix Valloton, Raitt creates new layers for a liminal world. The launch of this unique series is accompanied by the release of a new limited edition print by Raitt, titled Black Forest Falls.
