Bath Salts is an exquisitely detailed pointillist still life of a bathroom sink with an assortment of beauty products - its banal subject is not without a certain sly humor, reflected also in Talmadge's greater body of work, including depictions of an Upper East Side funeral parlor or soap opera opening credits made of sand. Her oeuvre nods towards cliché but turns to dive into the idiosyncrasies of our contemporary society.
