"This painting was part of an ongoing series I started called 'The Grey Scale" The painting is supposed to capture the excitement I once had of watching my name go by. It's a fragmented version of a subway piece. I have purposely left out color because I just want people to concentrate on the image. The Grey Scale series focused mainly on images of subway tunnels and blurry trains going by at high speed. The whole practice of painting alone at night in dark tunnels is a very solitary and secretive one. It's almost zen-like because you become attuned to every little sound . You become hyper sensitive to the slightest disturbance. I wanted to create images that gave people a chance to peek in on that underground world." - Daze.
