A Flexible Fabric of Inflexible Parts, 2015. 19x26 inches, Screen print on metallic Duralar. Signed and numbered in an edition of 50. For her edition with The Song Cave, Tauba Auerbach has gone all out. Metal upon metal, upon metal. Utilizing the close-up pattern of a woven metal fabric, Tauba ran the image through a custom "metallic" digital filter. The staunch metal-ness of the imagery exists in complete opposition to the incredible delicacy of the material that she has chosen to have the image printed on, a Duralar film (which has a super-thin sheet of aluminum vacuum deposited into its surface) with a reflective, mirror-like appearance, whose incredibly fragile rippling and lightness make it nearly ethereal.
