The limited edition if the function of writing is to express the world, 2014 was created by Pendleton in support of the Whitechapel Gallery to accompany his work included in the exhibition Adventures of the Black Square: Abstract Art and Society 1915 - 2015, from January – April 2015. The print has three dimensional as well as graphic qualities, featuring a cropped reference to the work's title created with a relief of collaged lettering .
