'Sandcastles is a new edition by Polly Morgan, referring to the unstable foundations & impossible dreams evoked in the expressions 'Houses Built on Sand' and 'Castles In The Air'. Cast objects from her studio, such as scrap wood & coins have been rendered lifelike in resin plaster. This process is something akin to taxidermy; the illusion of the presence of something now absent; a ghost. In this sculpture a chick, unable to fly and escape it's gilded plinth, perches precariously atop a stack of coins. Money slips through our fingers and wealth, as with sandcastles, vanishes faster than it's built.'.
