The rapidity of each session, painted to coincide with the exact running time of the selected title, is belied by the large scale and intricate textures of the surface. We love the brutalist art deco feel of this work; it's very 1930's, in keeping with the film that inspired the piece. By compressing the entire duration and contents of a movie into a painting, Karadi has distilled time itself into a haunting, spectral image.
