Selected Reading (Nausea) is part of Eric Yahnker's ongoing series of drawings which combine famous figures, real and fictional, with hand-selected works of literature. In this print, Yahnker places Jean-Paul Sartre's existential masterwork, Nausea, in the hands of Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz, creating an image of lost innocence in which we can literally see the pursuit of meaning rendered meaningless. According to Yahnker, "enlightenment and entertainment marinate in the same murky meatloaf.".
