Anthony Lister is regularly described as “Australia’s best contemporary artist.” His painting, sculptures and street work combine highbrow and lowbrow, the sophisticated with the sleazy. In his own words, he “creates analogies that allow the viewer to feel comfortable on subjects which maybe they’ve made judgements about before.” An exhibition earlier this year saw ‘Lister’ (his graffiti tag and artist’s signature) present paintings of ballet dancers next to opulent tableaux depicting pole dancing clubs. The screen print edition Ballerinas in Motion is inspired by that show. Printed at our dedicated Execution Dock studio and hand-finished by Lister himself it’s an elegant and graceful image with the most subtle of titillating undertones.
