Thompson looks not so much tired, as sadly bemused - and there is an ironic poignancy to the visor and it's allusion to Sin City's fear and loathing. Note also the flecks of crimson here and there to remind us that Thompson's exit from this world was a voluntary (indeed, preemptive) one.
