Fab 5 Freddy stands at the intersection between hip-hop and graffiti of the 1980's. Widely considered a pioneer of Afrofuturism (aka Black Science Fiction), Fab 5 along with his peers challenged the Eurocentric gallery system of the time that was not accepting of their energetic black aesthetics and narratives. Understanding that racism and ignorance were the obstacles to overcome, Fab 5 was determined to establish the burgeoning graffiti movement of the eighties to a level of the likes of Dada or Futurism. We are pleased to present a limited edition and signed screen print of his 1984 painting Return of God to Africa. Return of God to Africa. 8 color screen print on Coventry Rag, 320 gsm. 30 x 30 inches on Deckled Edge. Signed and numbered by Fab 5 Freddy. Embossed by BEYOND THE STREETS. Edition of 100.
