He was about 5 years old and came out to meet us as a fierce and brave protector of his village. He was an example of many of the people I met whilst in the country who exhibited similar tenacity and strength of character. I began making linocut prints on vinyl records because that shiny disc has a hidden narrative contained within the grooves. Similarly, the people I paint have stories inside them too, should we decide to listen...".
