ADAM NEATE has continued to create his highly emotive original and multiple art works in ever more challenging materials, and has turned his attention to the historic art of marquetry. Involving the application of pieces of veneer to a structure to form a decorative design or image, marquetry seemed the perfect material for him to realise his latest multiple concept. Carefully selected veneers are used to recreate his original design. Brushed metals are used to emulate the candle holder, with light absorbing Holly wood offering the flatness of the wax. An ebonised poplar has been selected for the wick, which contrasts beautifully with the 'colour flashing' mother of pearl flame. Neate's trademark signature is ebonised on the paler woods, and a fine steel on the dark Mahogany example. On the rear of the artwork are two recessed hanging points.
