We discovered Helen Rae's work at the Outsider Art Fair this January, where she showed a wall of colored pencil drawings with The Good Luck Gallery. Rae uses fashion advertisements as a point of departure, visually breaking down the image as if holding up a shattered mirror, and titles each work after the date of completion. In October 26, 2015, patterns jump off the figure's clothing and meld into the background, skewing perspective and proportion while harmonizing abstraction and figuration.
