Kanta Kimura was born and raised in Koblenz, Germany. Kanta lives in Berlin since he started his studies at Universität der Künste (UdK) and works as a freelance artist.Kanta does not only regard himself as a painter, but also as a materials researcher. He has been working on his impressive series "Dyctio" for two years now. It is an unconventional technique that results in large-scaled paintings. The artist uses a stream of compressed air to arrange the liquid oil-based paint on large-scale canvases. The result of this process is that the background is visible. First, the basic layers of paint are applied in an elaborate process. Then they are covered in high-pigmented, dark oil-paint. Before the paint dries it is systematically arranged with the help of a stream of compressed air.
