Edward "Ed" Templeton (born July 28, 1972) is a professional skateboarder, skateboard company owner, and contemporary artist who, as of 2012, resides in Huntington Beach, California.Templeton is best known for founding the skateboard company, Toy Machine, a company that he continues to oversee as of August 2012.Outside of skateboarding, Ed is a painter, graphic designer, and photographer. He began by painting the graphics for his pro-model skateboards on New Deal, and later for his own brands. In 2000, Ed's book of photography Teenage Smokers placed first in the Search For Art competition in Italy, winning $50,000. In the fall of 2001 (and later in 2011), Ed's artwork was featured in Juxtapoz magazine and in the 2002 produced an art exhibition, The Essentiel Disturbance, in the Palais de Tokyo (Paris)with the catalogue, The Golden Age of Neglect, published by Drago.Templeton is a featured artist in "Beautiful Losers", a touring art exhibit, collected art book and feature documentary film, which includes the work of various contemporary artists. A lot of the art included in Beautiful Losers provides skateboarding and other urban themes. Templeton and some members of the Toy Machine team skated on ramps (and even a car) setup at the base of the Cincinnati Contemporary Art Center in the summer of 2003 for the temporary showcase of Beautiful Losers. Ed Templeton is also an interviewee and his work and career one of the subjects of the Beautiful Losers film.
